Amines are prepared by reaction of alkyl halides and ammonia. If we want to derive primary amine, excess
NH3 should be reacted with alkyl halides. There is four carbon chains around one carbon atom in
the 2-ethyl-2-methylbutamine.
We know, grignard reagent can be used to extend carbon chains.
Grignard reagent reacts with
aldehydes, ketones and and more.
KOH(in alcoholic medium) reacts with alkyl halides and give alkenes(or alkynes if there are two halogen and hydrogen atoms in adjacent carbon atoms).
